Open Source Webmapping
In collaboration with Newton Rigg (University of Cumbria) and Spatial Consultants, a local GIS firm, Riversmeet has supported a young intern to build a interactive online map of the forest gardens of Cumbria. The map was produced using only Open Source software and constituted a proof of concept to see how community project can use open source resources and webmapping.
We are currently moving the map to a permanent server, but it should be soon officially released!
Funding for this project came from The RSA, the Crofton Trust and Copeland Business Placement.
